-Jamie Johnston an English and Writing Studies professor has been named the 2018 recipient of the Tom Murphy Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to the University of Western Ontario Faculty Association
-This award recognizes the hard work and commitment of a contract faculty member to the work of U.W.O.F.A.
-The award will be presented at the association’s annual membership meeting on March 21st 
-Johnston has been at Western since 2007, first as a part-time faculty member and, more recently, as a limited-term member
-The Tom Murphy Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to U.W.O.F.A. was established in honour of the late long-standing contract faculty member in the Department of Sociology who was involved since certification back in 1998, serving on the Board of Directors for four terms, as a member of the Executive Committee, and as a member of the Policy and Governance Committee

Local News:
-A 29-year-old man has been charged with robbery after a business in the city’s north  east end was held up on Tuesday 
-Police said that around 3:20 p.m., the suspect entered the business on Adelaide near Huron Street, demanded cash and threatened gunfire 
-Police said the man tried to break open the cash register and took off on foot when an employee confronted him 
-Officers were able to find the man, a short distance away, but said no weapon was recovered 
-The victims of the robbery were not injured

-The Western Mustangs Figure skating captured silver in the overall team competition as the OUA Figure Skating Championship wrapped up on Wednesday afternoon at the East Elgin Community Complex
-Western capped off two gold medals on the final day of competition. It was Natalie Li and Giouzelin (ghow-lin) MA LOU who finished first in the Women's Senior Similar Pairs
-Along with the Mustangs two gold medals, Emily Bird who soared once again added a bronze medal to the Mustangs collection with a third place finish in Women's Senior Silver Solo Dance
-It was the Toronto Varsity Blue who successfully defended their title. The win marked the first time in history that the team claimed three straight OUA titles first program to accomplish the feat since the Mustangs three consecutive championships from 2011-2013 
-The Blues captured their sixth championship in program history with 88 points overall, just four points separated the host Western Mustangs from getting their taste of gold

-We will continue to see light snow this afternoon with a high of -2, that will turn into light flurries overnight and the temperature dropping to -5
