At the World Molecular Imaging Conference in Seattle, Washington this Wednesday, Western announced that they are acquiring Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) system technology, making Robarts Research Institute home to Canada’s first MPI system. Considered one of the most promising imaging technologies of the last 20 years, MPI is an ultrasensitive imaging modality that uses magnetic fields to detect iron oxide nanoparticle tracers.
Hosted on Wednesday October 24th to Friday October 26th, 7 luminaries will be granted honorary degrees at the 312th Convocation, celebrating influencers in fields such as film, medicine, math, and philanthropy. Those awarded include Jim & Louise Temerty, Carol Herbert, Charlotte Froese Fischer, Cameron Bailey, Rosamond Ivey and Aubrey Dan.
The USC is hosting another annual Club’s Week starting on Monday, September 17th to Friday, September 21st from 10am to 4pm in the Mustang Lounge. At this year’s Club’s Week 213 USC clubs will set up booths in the Mustang Lounge to market their clubs initiatives while recruiting new club members.
On Sunday, September 16th the 38th Annual Terry Fox Run will be held in London at Springbank Gardens on Wonderland Road, located between Riverside Drive and Springbank Drive. This non-competitive event is family-oriented, where participants can walk, run, roller-blade, wheel-chair, or bike for either 2, 5, or 10 km on an accessible trail. Registration is free, and opens from 8:00am until 1:00pm, the official start time being 10:00am.
Yesterday OUA university golfers flocked to the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club to participate in the Western Invitational. 8 men’s and 7 women’s teams started competing with an 11am shotgun for their first taste of action since the Canadian University/College Golf Championships, which was held in Chilliwack, BC back in June. Western's women's team won gold.
The Western Mustangs men’s hockey team started their 2018-19 year off with an exhibition game last night at Thompson Arena. They would beat the Laurier Golden Hawks 3-1. The Mustangs men’s hockey team next plays on the weekend in Oshawa against the UOIT Ridgebacks.
