Campus News:

  • Western University and its Faculty Association (UWOFA) have reached a tentative agreement, which the negotiating teams recommend to their respective parties
  • What this means is that there will be no strike, and all services – including classes, labs, tutorials and research – will continue as normal
  • This requires approval from UWOFA membership and Western’s Board of Governors
  • Details of the tentative contract will not be released publicly until both sides have had an opportunity to vote

Local News:

  • The City of London has delayed the 2019 rollout of the “quick start” phase of London’s Bus Rapid Transit system
  • This was planned to feature part of the system’s northern route, running from downtown to Masonville place
  • However, City staff have claimed that this step is no longer needed
  • According to the current plan, construction on the full BRT system will begin in 2020

Sports:

  • The Cape Breton Capers women’s soccer team will play in the U Sports national championship semifinals on Saturday
  • Cape Breton blanked the Western Mustangs 2-0 in quarter-final action at Gee-Gees Field in Ottawa,  yesterday morning
  • Your Western Mustangs women’s and men’s basketball teams are back in action, but it could be a long night at Alumni Hall for the Purple & White as they play the Carleton Ravens
  • First with a 6pm tip-off the women take on the defending National Champions, who are 3-0 this year, after going a perfect 23-0 last season
  • Following the women at 8pm are the guys, with the Mustangs having not beat the Ravens in OUA men’s basketball in over 14 years
  • If you can’t make either game, have no worries, you can catch all the action right here on 94.9 Radio Western “Your original voice of the Western Mustangs” starting at 5:50pm this evening as our pregame show sets you up for both games

  • Moving into Sunday, expect a temperature of 2 degrees with more sun
  • There is a weather warning for today with regards to continuing snow and rainfall
  • Drivers should expect deteriorating road conditions if temperatures drop a few degrees
