CAMPUS:

  • A recent TVDSB student survey serves as the latest opportunity for school boards to “do better” by all students, particularly those who identify as transgender or outside of the gender binary
  • More than 10,000 high school students participated in the survey, representing nearly half of the board’s student body
  • The study was to assess a need within the student success teams in schools to pay attention to the specific needs of non-binary or transgender students, to learn about how students are accessing mental-health supports provided to them in schools and whether or not those are meeting their needs.”

LOCAL:

  • One man remained in police custody Monday, following an early morning shooting that sent another man to hospital and left residents of a neighbourhood near the former Kellogg’s plant on edge
  • Police say they responded to reports of gunshots being fired about 1:15 a.m. in the area of Florence Street and Kellogg Lane, where they arrested a man and recovered a gun
  • One man was also treated at a local hospital for multiple gunshot wounds but had been released by midday Monday, police said
     
  • London police are asking for the public’s help locating a missing teenager
  • According to police 15-year-old Deshawn Burnett was last seen Friday, February 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the area of Marconi Boulevard near Trafalgar Street
  • Burnett is described as a black male, five-foot-six and 140 pounds. He has black hair shaved on the side with braids on the top, police said
  • Burnett was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black jeans and grey and black boots, officers said
  • Family and police are concerned for his welfare
  • Anyone with information in relation to his whereabouts is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

  • The Western Mustangs men’s hockey team was impressive to say the least Sunday evening at the Seymour-Hannah Entertainment Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario
  • As the purple & white scored a touchdown against the Brock Badgers in an elimination game, sourcing their offence from seven different players: Warnaar, Olynek, Petit, Szypula, Stefano, James and Huether
  • The 7-1 final in Game #3 of the OUA-West Semi-Finals, advances the Mustangs to the OUA-West Finals against the Guelph Gryphons
