Mustangs' Powerplay Prosperous in Win Against Ridgebacks

Reuben McHenry

Obviously, mustangs are stronger animals than ridgebacks, and they proved to be a stronger hockey team too on Saturday November 12th with a 3-1 win. The Western Mustangs got off to a quick start against the UOIT Ridgebacks and had complete control over the pace of the game. On a powerplay, they went up 1-0 with an April Clarke snipe off of a rebound. Ridgeback goalie Briar Hughes didn’t have much of a chance on the play. April Clarke credited her team by saying, “they pass the puck, we shoot, I get some rebounds. Honestly, I just owe it to my team”. Clarke’s snap shot from the slot resulted in her 5th goal of the year in 7 games, tying her for the league lead with Kaitlin Lowy of Guelph and Katrina Manoukarakis of Queen’s. Clarke was carrying an ice pack after the game due to a collision into the boards, but it wasn’t cause for concern as she said she’d be fine.
