- Western will create a new leadership role and an advisory council that will guide university-wide efforts to develop a sustained strategy for tackling racism on campus and in the world.

- In April, the university launched the Research Western Catalyst Grant: Surviving Pandemics initiative, a $1-million investment in interdisciplinary projects that contribute to a broad range of evidence, tools, theories, and guidelines into disease outbreaks.
- Nine additional research projects received university backing for their work in supporting recovery efforts for current and future disease outbreaks. 

- As the province moved all but one region in phase 2 on Monday, London continued to see a steady drop in positive COVID-19 cases.
- The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported one new case of COVID-19 Monday, and three over the weekend. 

- Canada's top central banker says there will be long-term economic damage from the COVID-19 pandemic as the country charts a "prolonged and bumpy" course to recovery.
- In his first speech as governor, Tiff Macklem says the central bank expects to see growth in the third quarter of this year as people are called back to work and households resume some of their normal activities. 

- The Toronto Raptors have gone to Dunk City to prepare for the resumption of the NBA season.

- Major League Baseball plans to unilaterally issue a 60-game schedule for its shortest season since 1878 after the players' association rejected a negotiated deal of the same length, putting the sport on track for a combative and possibly unhappy return to the field. 

- U.S. President Donald Trump suspended the entry into the United States of certain foreign workers on Monday, a move the White House said would help the coronavirus-battered economy.

- Expect the temperatures to be ranging between 14 degrees and 22 degrees Celsius today. There is an 80 % chance of precipitation in the morning along with a risk of a thunderstorm in the evening.
